"Homefront San Diego" Helps Military Families

Help KOGO help military families in San Diego County by making a donation of money, services or needed items.

Call our Hotline number: 1-866–424-9467

Homefront San Diego started shortly after 9/11 by Roger Hedgecock. An overwhelming number of service men and women in combat zones were finding themselves distracted by concerns over the well being of their families left behind and this problem was recognized by the commands and when Roger asked what he could do to help, the answer was to take care of the families at home.  And that was the beginning of Roger’s all volunteer organization that has to date helped over 10,000 families right here in San Diego. We are able to provide a wide variety of services to our lower rank enlisted men & women thru the generosity of our fellow San Diegans. Last year Homefront received over 3100 calls to our hotline and we helped over 1800 families.  During Christmas Homefront volunteers hand delivered grocery store gift cards and wal-mart gift cards to 100 families. These families had missed the deadline for other programs or Christmas programs just ran out of toys and food to help provide a Christmas for the children.

Homefront San Diego is an all volunteer organization, 72 strong with no overhead so that all of the donations we receive go directly to help our  Marine, Navy, Army and National Guard lower ranked enlisted families to meet their urgent needs.

Thru the generosity of donations just to name a few we provide: Emergency food, Emergency bill paying, Car repairs, Cribs, diapers, car seats.

Homefront also has a car program that we receive donated cars, insure that they are safe and reliable, give the donor a tax receipt for blue book value and hand the keys to a deserving family. Our goal is to provide a helping hand to our soldiers and their families during their time of service and sacrifice for our great country. I have a couple of stories about special families we helped during Christmas that I could share if we have time.  If you would like I can send that information also, just let me know.
